Workshop Description

Our thoughts, emotions and actions are all influenced by our sensory experiences. Drawing from the wisdom of Jean Ayres’ Sensory Integration work & Somatic Experiencing© as well as the 2500-year-old tradition of Buddhism, this is a program to help therapists take care of themselves as well as their clients. This workshop will educate the participant in the use of mindfulness exercises combined with sensory tools that increase one’s awareness and ability to self-regulate.

This workshop is a sensory experience. Sensory tools and techniques will be explored: bean bag tapping, weighted blankets, aromatherapy, sounds, as well as, art, yoga and movement. Participants will learn about their own sensory preferences and take away a sensory toolkit that can be used to manage stress, regulate emotions and experience more joy on a daily basis.
