March 15, 2015: Dance Therapy, Creativity, & Self-Care Workshop

On Sunday, March 15, the Art Therapy Club held their 2nd workshop of the year. Many students and professionals joined to learn more about Dance Therapy. Dr. Ilene Serlin and Dr. Pamerla McCory explained the many benefits of expressive arts therapy and Dr. Serlin led us through a typical movement session with clients. This workshop has opened our eyes as to how our psychological stress can impact our movements and how we can counteract those movements with an opposite quality to allow for balance. Reflecting upon why we move in certain ways can be informative during therapy and, as we all learned, a great destresser and freeing experience as a whole.
